The First Place 4 Health Live It Plan encompasses two aspects of your physical health: nutrition and physical activity. Both are essential to weight management. Overweight and obesity are much more than cosmetic concerns. Approximately 300,000 deaths each year are attributed to obesity. But this is a lifestyle disease that can be avoided by healthy choices. The primary causes of overweight and obesity are (1) increased caloric consumption (too many calories in), and (2) decreased energy output (not enough calories out). Were you hoping for a different answer? (At least it’s a simple one.) When we consume more calories than our body needs, and we fail to burn those excess calories due to an increasingly sedentary lifestyle, we store the unused calories as fat. It’s simple, but it’s not always easy. But here’s more good news: You don’t have to figure this out by yourself, and you’ll receive lots of encouragement along the way. First Place 4 Health will give you the necessary tools to make the necessary changes, and your First Place 4 Health leader and fellow group members will encourage you and keep you accountable (in a grace-filled way) to walk the road to total health. It’s a simple road that requires consistent steps in the same direction.
